Diversity

Diversity is all of the cultures, languages, races, ethnicities, mental and physical abilities, genders, religions, social classes, and more that we see in classrooms. Diversity affects the way all children learn and the way all teachers teach. Diversity is important to consider when identifying and meeting children’s needs.

  • Valuing diversity means “accepting and respecting different cultural backgrounds and customs, different ways of communicating, and different traditions and values.”
