A transition warning is a reminder that a transition is going to occur in the near future (e.g., 5 minutes, 1 minute). The reminder usually is verbalized by the teacher (e.g., “We have 5 more minutes before we clean up centers”). Sometimes a designated child is used to give the warning (e.g., a child walks around the room and shows the other children the “5-minute glove” he is wearing).
